The buzz in the fitness industry and health industry is healthy fats. For a good addition to your diet, add some macadamia nut oil. A gluten-free super oil can add a high number of calories, and give you a boost of energy to the body.
Macadamia nut oil is a clear to slightly amber in color. This oil has a nutty and buttery taste. It is composed of nearly 60% oleic acid, has significant levels of palmitoleic acid, and smaller amounts of linoleic acid. Palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated fat that may speed up fat metabolism, thus reducing the bodies ability to store fat. It also reduces all the amounts of magnesium, manganese, thiamine, copper and iron. This oil has a shelf life of two years, and is very stable due to it low polyunsaturated fat content. Cooking with macadamia nut oil is an excellent choice for frying due to its hight heat capacity (smoke point of 410 degrees F, 210 degrees C).
Macadamia nut oil has more oleic acid (the good fatty acid) than olive oil. The health benefits of macadamia nut oil are the ability to lower triglyceride levels, improve heart health, boost energy levels, improve your digestive process, help those suffering from Celiac disease, boost bone health, and help prevent chronic diseases. The anti inflammatory properties in macadamia oil may also help with memory and asthma.
We have established that this oil is excellent to cook with, and to add to salads. Did you know macadamia nut oil is excellent botanical for the skin? In addition to that this oil is rich in Vitamin E, and is easily absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy and heavy feeling. Not to mention that the palmitoleic acid is the prominent fatty acid found in human sebum. The resemblance of sebum makes for an effective moisturizer. (Try shaving with macadamia nut oil, gives you a close shave leaving your skin moisturized, while protecting your skin from razor burn.)
There are added health benefits for adding some macadamia oil to your diet. Try adding 1 tablespoon to your protein shake in the morning for added energy. Don't let the hefty price tag scare you, remember a little bit goes a long way!
