Dry Brushing:
Have you tried it? Do you know what your doing? Or you just willey nilley scrubbing your skin with this stiff bristled brush? Why should you try Dry brushing? Dry brushing energizes and stimulates the body. Gentle brushing effects the surface, it sloughs off the dead skin cells. Removing the deads cells leaves a surface for your moisturizer to hydrate more effectively. Thus leaving the appearance of the skin be smoother and well hydrated. Detoxifying your skin, think of dry brushing is similar to a massage. "The light pressure against and the direction in which you brush helps move lymmph fluid into the lymph nodes so this waste can them be eliminated," says Robin Jones spa director at Lake Austin Spa Resort in Austin, Tx. Your body naturally does this but dry brushing speeds up the process at the s ame time boosting circulation. Dry brushing helps with the elimanation of toxins, stagnet toxins in the skin can attack the connective fibers in the skin. If you can get rid of toxins in the body, improve your circulation, keeping your skin hydrated, isn't it worth a try? Does dry brushing help cellulite: There is no conclusive evidence that dry brushing reduces cellulite. Cellulite forms when connective tissue is broken down giving the skin a lumpy/bumpy appearance (think orange peel). To "repair" the connective tissue, would take a procedure that causes trauma to the skin, stimulating collegan/elatin. Dry brushing is not a cure all, but may cause a slight swelling to the skin, giving a temporarily smoother appearance. A few less dimples we could live with. What is the proper technique? Start by purchasing a natural bristle brush, with a long handle (to reach all of the hard to each areas). Get Naked, start brushing using long stokes brushing towards your heart. Always brush towards your heart. Brush every area several times. Starting with your limbs (ie. legs, and arms). Next move on to your abdomen, using a circular motion around your belly button. Your skin will be sensitve, but will get use to dry brushing the more times you dry brush. After you have completed your body dry brushing, shower, and use a natural oil (ie. coconut oil, almond oil, argan oil, rose hip oil) on your skin, then pat dry with a towel.
